Danny had been thinking about texting John all day, but as the sun vanished beyond the horizon he finally sat down on the edge of the bed with his phone. He wrote a message- Then deleted it. Then another, which he also deleted.

Finally he wrote something he didn't hate.

<i>Come over.</i>

Two words, nothing more. He just hoped John replied.

"Can you use a gun, Danny?" he asked.

"...I don't. I'm hoping never to have to," Danny replied. "It's not easy to get a gun in London anyway."

"It's a lot easier than you think," he countered. "A taser, then."

"...I have pepper spray," Danny replied.

[petty_dabbler]

"That's better than nothing," he nodded. John gently touched Danny's cheek.

"Okay. Not full time, mind. I have cases of my own. But, yeah. Let's do it."

"Yes, sure, yes. I'm not even full time myself yet," Danny replied, shocked that John was agreeing.

"Now that's sorted," he said. "Look at me. Gainfully employed."

Danny snorted a laugh, pulling his feet up onto the sofa and giving John a very gentle, playful kick.

"Oi!" he protested with a laugh, making a grab for Danny's foot but falling short.

He was definitely sobering up. He was still enjoying the buzz but it was just beer- it was fading fast.

"I'm not going to put up with a boss that kicks me," he smiled, rubbing Danny's ankle.

"Oh, I'm the boss? Thought we'd be partners, but alright. I've never been a boss before," Danny smiled.

"I've never had a boss before," he chuckled. Not entirely true, but Frankie at the chip shop when he was sixteen didn't count.

"I can't imagine I'll be a model employee," he continued, running his hand up Danny's leg, up his thigh to his hip. John twisted and moved in, easing up closer to Danny's lips. "Maybe I will be, though."

"Best behaviour if you want a raise," Danny teased, chasing John's lips with his own.

"I'll give you a raise," he threatened as he cupped his hand over Danny's fly and began to rub.

Danny moaned, then grinned, his own hand sliding to John's backside to give it a squeeze.

John stretched up the length of him so he could kiss Danny. He moved against him and touched where he could reach, but mostly he simply delighted in the taste of his tongue.

Danny moaned into the kiss, then sighed, toying with John's hair.

"I'm glad you came over," he said softly.

"Me too," he smiled.

Don't get comfy, John...

Oh, hello, sense of impending doom.

Danny kissed him again, though he seemed to be in no rush for more. This was good, this was nice. Besides, he wanted to get to know John better.

John was leisurely as he touched Danny where he could reach while he kissed him. There was no rush. No spirits. No food coming soon. No distractions but the telly.

"I could do this all night," he murmured finally against Danny's lips.

"Our lips would be very sore," Danny teased, though he was in no rush to move things along.

"A price I'm willing to pay," he smiled. He kissed him again, that smile still curving his mouth. He went slowly, trying to avoid Danny's prophecy.

"I feel like I hardly know you still," Danny confessed between kisses. "I want to know you."

JOhn kissed hima couple more times, then pulled back.

""What do you want to know?" he asked.

"I dunno- What's your favourite food, what werte you like in school- What are your hobbies? I dunno- I just want to know you," Danny shrugged.

"Oh, you want the boring bits," he chuckled.
