"I really hope you're right," Danny said, looking out the window with a frown.

Soon enough it was time to go back to their rooms, and Danny kept himself busy until nightfall. He'd mastered the art of slipping out his room, and had the path to the boiler memorized. He'd snagged a candle from an emergency kit at the nurse's station, and was holding it tight in one hand as he lingered by the furnace, waiting for John.

Danny held his gaze- And it felt like an invitation.

Slipping his arms around John he kissed him again, for real this time. Everything felt wrong, Greg felt like a stranger, Hex walked right past him in the hall, but John was here, and he looked at him like he knew. Like he remembered. He listened and believed, and- And Danny needed to be heard. Needed to feel like he wasn't loosing it.

John slid one hand around him and the other cradled Danny's face to hold him close. By God, but the man knew how to kiss. John moaned softly and pushed in a little closer.

Danny knew this couldn't go anywhere. Asylum or not, he was still positive. It felt good to be held though. Good to be kissed.

...And he liked John, genuinely. Even if everything he'd just witnessed was madness, the man himself was... Well, he was nice. Kind and warm, and... Nice.

"Can we just stay here a while?" he asked. "I don't want to go back to my room yet."

"You keep snogging me, we can stay here forever," he whispered.

Danny exhaled a laugh- But it didn't ring joyful.

"Let's get out of the basement maybe?" he suggested. The main floor is dusty, but not as damp as down here. Looks like it's been closed off for a decade at least."

"I don't know, dank and musty has a certain ambiance you just can't recreate at home," he drawled. He finished it off with a chuckle and then moved to get up.

Danny did the same, dusting himself off.

"I've only been upstairs twice, never been caught there though. Got caught creeping back to my room once though," he admitted.

"Is it just more hospital up there?" he asked, waiting for Danny to lead the way and then following close to his shoulder.

"Yeah. Much older though," he added, leading them to some old stairs and up to the main floor. It was dusty, and looked as though it hadn't been touched in decades. It was cold too, much colder than the main building.

Looking down the hallway was a shadow that only grew darker the deeper it went.John took a look around and, just to be a smart ass, said, "Maybe we shoud try the light switch, eh?"

He flicked the switch fully expecting noting. The lights snapped on and the shock on his face was alarming.

"Bloody hell," he said softly. "I was kidding!"

Danny quickly flicked it back off.

"Let's not get caught, shall we?" he replied, frowning. "I'm not eager to get locked in a little box again for three days straight."

"I didn't mean to," he insisted, pulling out his lighter instead. "It looks like rooms down this way, right?"

"Rooms down that wing, that way is- I'm not sure. Surgical suites, I think. Very old ones. Not sure I'd like to know what sort of surgery they were doing here though," Danny said softly.

"I don't think I'll think on that too much, either," he said ans walked into the darkness. It wasn't so dark. The city's lights reflected of the low storm clouds and it filtered in through uncurtained windows.

Danny led the way, walking until they reached a room that didn't seem to have decayed too much.

"Warmer in here," he noted.

"Yeah, it is," he nodded. He wandered closer to the window and looked out, but there were no lit windows in the houses outside the institutions walls. Not a single house was lit.

"This is the shittiest view on the planet," he said.

Danny laughed, sitting down on the dusty mattress.

"Sorry, they were all booked up in the deluxe suites," he smiled.

"I'm definitely leavnig a bad review on Yelp," John quipped, moving to join him on the bed. He took Danny's face in his palm and pulled him into kiss him.

Danny didn't hesitate to lean in to meet him, returning the kiss as one hand moved to rest on John's knee.

He still had so many questions about what he'd seen, what had happened, but- Part of him didn't want to know. Part of him wanted to bury it all and just forget.

John happily kissed him, tracing the shape of his lower lip with the tip of his tongue, feeling the shape of his teeth. He fell in love so fast, his worst character flaw. Mostly because it meant there was a string of dead lovers in his wake.

Knowing that was never enough to stop him for falling in love a little bit every time he met someone new, interesting, and beautiful.

Danny, for his part, was a hopeless romantic- But right now that wasn't what drove him. It was more a need to feel connected to the reality he knew to be true, and right now that's what John represented.

John kissed him well, deep and hungry but slow. No need to rush. No one was going to find them here and interrupt them.

Danny moaned into the kiss, trying to forget for a moment where they were and everything that was happening. He wanted to just enjoy this, enjoy John, but it was hard. The dust around them was heavy in the air, and a grim mood hung all around them.

John didn't notice, and even if he had, it wouldn't have bothered him. He was too invested in pushing Danny back and down onto the bed so he could climb on top of him to deepen the kiss. Of course he was only frustrating himself. They had nothing to keep safe. But this was good. Kissing him like he may never get to again was very, very good.
