That uncomfortable flutter of nerves hit Danny again, and he was surprised by how hard it was to shake them off before nodding and following after Jack. He'd done this so many times, why was this any different? Perhaps because it had been so long, that was all he could think as he brushed the feelings away and found a smile.

Danny didn't know how to explain that he always worried, even before he'd been ill. It was just a bit different now. Before the illness, he'd never gone bare until he was in a solid relationship with someone, not since his first big scare anyway. Now he simply accepted that he'd always have to be cautious, no matter how close to someone he became.

Jack didn't need his backstory though, and he wet his lips.

"Just because we're both positive... That doesn't mean we shouldn't be careful," he said softly.

"Mmm, okay," Jack replied. No reason to beg, not if Danny wasn't into the idea. His deft hands worked the man's trousers down, then Jack moved back so he could strip down, too.

Danny couldn't pretend it wasn't tempting, it was. ...But he had Hex to think of too. this wasn't just his own health he was gambling with now.

"Must be something else you'd like," Danny said, moving to make it easier for Jack to undress him.

Jack undressed him, then himself, then pulled Danny in close to feel the man's bare body against his skin. He took another kiss, then moved his lips to Danny's ear.

"I've got enough in me to go all night, Danny. I want to make you feel so good. Light up. And I want to do it until you ache. Til you can't walk. Fuck me...then let me have you. Anything you want, anything you've fantasized about, things you'd never ask your boyfriend for...I'm here for that."

What did he want? Danny honestly wasn't even sure. He supposed he'd just wanted to be wanted, and he'd gotten that- Hadn't he?

"There's nothing I couldn't ask Hex for," Danny confessed. "He'd do anything I could dream up, I think. ...I'm just not the only one he'd do anything for, it turns out."

Sighing, Danny ghosted his hands over Jack's chest. "I'm sorry- I... I'm being a proper bastard. All I wanted was to let him know I could still pull if I wanted. To let him see I'm... I don't know. But it doesn't much matter, I don't think. He doesn't seem bothered that I'm here with you."

"No? Did you tell him you were getting laid?" Jack asked, his hands sliding to Danny's hips. He leaned in for another kiss...then paused.

"Hex?" he asked, pulling away. It couldn't be possible. Surely there were dozens of men in London who went by 'Hex'.

"...Schofield?"

Danny looked surprised, then nodded just a little.

"That's him, yeah," he replied, pushing his hair back, unsure of what to make of this new development.

Jack ghosted his thumbs over the jut of Danny's hip bones but didn't let go. He did pull back to look at him, though.

"He's cheating on you?" Jack asked. From what he knew of the man that was odd. Off all of the companions he knew about, Hex was just about the most honourable and loyal of them all.

"It's not... I gave him permission," Danny admitted quietly. "And I don't regret it, I don't. I know that there's a good chance that even with the best meds and treatments, I could be gone before my time- I don't want him to wind up lost and alone. ...I've been there, it's not a good place to end up."

Covering Jack's hands with his own, he took a slow breath, then sighed. "That doesn't make it easy though."

Jack nodded, then reached up to stroke Danny's cheek.

"You are so beautiful," he said softly. "But you don't have to be selfless if it's going to make you miserable."

"It's not selfless," Danny assured him.

And it wasn't to him. In a way, Danny knew it was selfish. It meant he didn't have to feel guilty if something happened to him. It meant he didn't have to worry about Hex being on his own.

"You dodged the second half of that," he replied, then kissed Danny one more time. This time he didn't hold back the energy. It was there, ever present. Part of him as much as his blue eyes or his soft lips. Hands roamed Danny's body, firm and sure, and Jack pulled him along toward the bed.

Glad to let the topic drop, Danny lost himself in the kiss and the strange sensation that shot through him whenever their lips met. ...Was he higher than he'd thought? Whatever it was, it made it easy to slip an arm around Jack and let himself be guided over to the mattress.

Jack's leg hit the edge of the bed and he reluctantly let go of Danny, just so he could pull the blankets back. The sheets were clean and crisp and smelled of chlorine bleach.

"Lay down," he said, eager to see Danny laid out so he could take in the sight of him all at once.

The bed was inviting, and Danny stretched out on it lazily, all pale skin and tired bones as he looked up at Jack and invited him closer.

Jack was flawless. Not a mark or a blemish anywhere on him. He looked at Danny with hungry eyes and wet his lips before he crawled onto the bed. He hovered over the man for a long moment.

"Gorgeous," he said softly. "You are absolutely stunning."

The words felt good, but Danny struggled to believe them. HE didn't feel gorgeous. Not at all.

"You're beautiful," he said, rather than acknowledge the compliment. Something was nagging at him though, and he wet his lips before speaking again. "Will you tell me how you know Hex?"

"We used to work for the same guy," Jack answered. The truth, but obfuscated. He wasn't sure if Hex had told Danny about the Doctor. Not many people in this century would believe such a tale anyways.

"Wot, like- In the army, or at the hospital?" Danny asked, a hint of guilt nipping at his soul as he worried what hex might make of him shagging someone he knew.

"No, no. A long time ago. Another lifetime, it seems like," Jack replied. "We were both a lot younger."

One hand moved over Danny's skin, but Jack was content to answer questions and not press for more. It seemed to him Danny needed some answers.

"He doesn't talk about his past much," Danny confessed, covering Jack's hand with his own and then guiding it to his mouth. Almost idly, he took Jack's fingers between his lips and began to suck.

Jack groaned softly and closed his eyes to delight in the sensation of it for a long moment.

"I'm sure he doesn't. What we did...it's hard to explain without sounding mad."

Danny dragged his tongue over the digits, then let them slip from his lips.

"You're both so full of secrets. What else do you have in common, hmm?"

"Not much else," Jack replied, tracing the shape of Danny's bottom lip with a wet fingertip. "Nothing else, actually. Except you, now."

Danny snorted softly in amusement, lips parting and tongue flicking out just a bit to get one more taste of Jack's skin. His hands rested lightly on Jack's arms, but one slowly moved to wedge between them instead, taking the other man in hand.

Watching Jack, he couldn't help but wonder if he'd been with Hex as well- Surprised by how aroused rather than envious the thought made him.

"I want you to fuck me," he said quietly. "Hard. ...Hard enough that he knows exactly what I did tonight."

It was a spiteful desire, but maybe- Maybe he was allowed to be spiteful. Maybe he could be compassionate and giving, and a spiteful prick. Maybe it was alright to want Hex to know that he could be loved by others too- That he was still worth wanting.
