from here
Danny was stone still for a moment, but eventually moved to cover Hex's hand with his own. He honestly wasn't sure what to say. So much had happened, so much had changed. In the end he settled on something simple.
"I wasn't gone forever, I just- I had things I needed to at least try and settle," he said softly.

"I've got the day off so we can go to the clinic, I'll get the prescription, we'll hit the shops and get food...and, if you'd like, we can go to my place and I can get a few things to bring over. I'm sure Jenna will be thrilled to have the house to herself."

You might need your own space now and then," Danny suggested, though he really didn't know. The only reason he was mostly clean now was because he had to be. He didn't have a choice.

He wouldn't pretend to be an expert, and he certainly wouldn't pretend to have all the answers. ...Or any of the answers.
Opening the fridge, there was nothing but a sad looking orange and a few eggs.
"Eggs and toast?" he suggested. "I think the bread's still alright."

He stood alone in the living room for a moment, thinking of Scotty. Remembering a conversation they'd had years ago about Danny's romantic tendencies. It had been so long since he'd let himself fall in love. At least it felt like a long time. ...His life with Alex felt like another lifetime.
It was time to move on.

Date: 2016-08-13 03:24 am (UTC)Hex made himself right at home in the kitchen, peeking in the cupboards to see what supplies there were, what meager food. He thought he had a real chance here and he needed to sieze it. If he was going to really work at being a better man he needed to start with himself. Working on what was good in him. He couldn't live in a hole of doubt and self pity. If he could be a better man, if he could be the sort of man Danny could be with and respect and love...that was a start.
"Food!" he called when he had the scramble done and the toast buttered.

"Smells lovely," he smiled. "Thank you Hex.

Date: 2016-08-13 03:33 am (UTC)In that moment it was as if nothing had ever changed. That Danny had never gone, that Hex had never gotten shot, that he hadn't fucked up everything with Fin. In those simple words all he knew was a peace he hadn't felt for quite some time. This was right. This was good. And he needed to make sure that he never lost this again.
"Eat up," he said. "I just need to send a quick text before I join you."
Then he pulled out his mobile and to Q he sent something very simple.
thank you
