Hex
from here
Danny was stone still for a moment, but eventually moved to cover Hex's hand with his own. He honestly wasn't sure what to say. So much had happened, so much had changed. In the end he settled on something simple.
"I wasn't gone forever, I just- I had things I needed to at least try and settle," he said softly.

"It's funny, init, how people turn up at just the right time? You, here. Now. Alex then. It's funny," he said. Whatever the shot Q had given him was making him rather tired and he really wanted to just have a sit.
no subject
"Sure, I guess," Danny agreed, frowning and giving Hex a worried look. "It's getting late, I'd understand if you need to get some rest," he said gently.

"I'm not going anywhere." Danny promised. "I'll be here in the morning. We can talk all day if you like. ...Right now I want to see you well rested," Danny pressed gently, stepping closer and allowing himself a moment of quiet intimacy and human touch as he stepped closer and wrapped his arms around Hex.

The relief he felt at simply being held made him dizzy. He held onto Danny in return and felt the solid form of him, smelled his shampoo and skin, and in that moment everything felt right.
"Show me where I can sleep," he said softly after a long moment of indulgence.
no subject
"We're hardly strangers. You can sleep in mine if you like. ...Though if you'd rather be alone, the sofa pulls out. ...Not very comfy really," Danny confessed, watching Hex as he spoke. As though he was worried the other man might vanish if he looked away.
no subject
"I didn't want to presume...but I'd like that. I'd like to sleep with you," Hex said softly, chancing a gentle touch. Just a bit of intimacy that he'd missed so terribly in Danny's absence.

"I can just sleep in me pants," he replied softly. "It'd be nice to have you against me."
no subject
"It would be nice," Danny agreed, tracing his fingers over the line of Hex's jaw as he spoke.
"I've really missed you," he said softly. "I don't think I can say that enough. I've missed you so much. I hope- I hope I didn't ruin everything by running away. I don't want to start over. I don't want to pretend none of that happened. I want to pick up where we left off, and I want to do it right this time. No more running, no more fear. I love you, I don't know if I'll ever get over Alex, but I know I love you, and I want to make this work."

Hex honestly wasn't sure he deserved for anyone to love him unconditionally the way Danny was offering, but that was nothing he was going to say out loud. He felt like an arse but he wanted to be someone's own. He wanted a future. And he could have that with Danny. He love him. Adored him. And his heart beat faster at the thought of picking up again.
"I do too," he said. He hesitated a moment, then leaned in and kissed him tenderly.

It felt good to be kissed. Good to close his eyes and let all the pain he felt fade away. To pretend he could be normal and happy.
He'd suffered so much recently. Lost so much. ...Hadn't he earned this? Didn't he deserve a happy ending?

Hex lingered at his lips for a long moment, eyes closed, simply tasting him and breathing him in.
"I've missed you," he whispered, then softer, "I love you, Danny."
no subject
"I love you too, Hex. ...I promise, I'm going to get this right this time. I mean it," Danny promised.
no subject
Hex nodded, deciding then and there that he'd do it right, too. No messing around, no drinking. Work, gym, home. He'd get on the straight and narrow and stay there and be a man Danny could be proud to cal his boyfriend.
"Do you want to eat or should we go lie down?" he asked. "I'll cook. You know how I like to cook," he grinned.

"Is good to have something solid on my stomach when I take my pills... Dunno how much food I have though. I never remember to go shopping," Danny admitted.
no subject
"I'll work with what you've got, then we can go to Tesco's tomorrow after work," he said with a nod. He slid his hand into Danny's so they could walk together, not wanting to lose contact for even a minute.

Danny walked with him to the kitchen, then hesitated before speaking again.
"If we're really going to make a go of it, you- You definitely need to be on that pill," he said softly. "I know we still have to be careful, but... I'd feel better."
no subject
"I'll do it tomorrow," he replied without hesitation. "I've got the day off so we can go to the clinic, I'll get the prescription, we'll hit the shops and get food...and, if you'd like, we can go to my place and I can get a few things to bring over. I'm sure Jenna will be thrilled to have the house to herself."
no subject
"That sounds like a good idea. I know we're giving this another go, but while you recover, you're welcome to take over the spare room. You might need your own space now and then," Danny suggested, though he really didn't know. The only reason he was mostly clean now was because he had to be. He didn't have a choice.
no subject
"I've had plenty of me own space, Danny. I'm sick to death of me own space," he confessed softly.
no subject
"Okay," Danny said softly.. "Whatever you need, Hex."
He wouldn't pretend to be an expert, and he certainly wouldn't pretend to have all the answers. ...Or any of the answers.
Opening the fridge, there was nothing but a sad looking orange and a few eggs.
"Eggs and toast?" he suggested. "I think the bread's still alright."
no subject
"Eggs and toast it is," he smiled. "Go get your meds ready and I'll have the food up in just a minute," he said, poking around the kitchen to find a pan and the bread and things.
no subject
Danny wandered off, shedding his shoes and coat before sorting out his meds.
He stood alone in the living room for a moment, thinking of Scotty. Remembering a conversation they'd had years ago about Danny's romantic tendencies. It had been so long since he'd let himself fall in love. At least it felt like a long time. ...His life with Alex felt like another lifetime.
It was time to move on.

Hex made himself right at home in the kitchen, peeking in the cupboards to see what supplies there were, what meager food. He thought he had a real chance here and he needed to sieze it. If he was going to really work at being a better man he needed to start with himself. Working on what was good in him. He couldn't live in a hole of doubt and self pity. If he could be a better man, if he could be the sort of man Danny could be with and respect and love...that was a start.
"Food!" he called when he had the scramble done and the toast buttered.
