Hex
from here
Danny was stone still for a moment, but eventually moved to cover Hex's hand with his own. He honestly wasn't sure what to say. So much had happened, so much had changed. In the end he settled on something simple.
"I wasn't gone forever, I just- I had things I needed to at least try and settle," he said softly.

"Bet it's got a nice garden. I'm spoiled with the garden at Spencer's house," he replied, keeping Danny close as they went inside. It was nice, not flash at all. Understated. Classic. He felt at home immediately.

"It does," Danny nodded, though his smile faded as he looked around.
"It's a lovely place, he was very proud of this house. ...It feels terribly empty without him in it though," he admitted quietly.

"Would you sell? Move somewhere without so many ghosts?" Hex asked gently.
no subject
"No," Danny admitted. "That would be too hard. I have too many memories of him that live here."
no subject
"Then maybe a change or two. Over time. Make it more your's together," he suggested.
no subject
"Maybe," Danny agreed. "Right now I'm not sure I'm ready for that either. At the moment it's... It's nice to be among his things. It's like he's still here."
He wrapped his arms around himself, then looked over at Hex. "Scotty didn't drink either. He had a slip not long before he... Before he, um, he was killed. I cleared the place out though, it's safe here if you need a place to be while you get back on track," he offered.

"I don't know a lot about sobriety, but I'll do what I can," Danny promised. "Whatever you need, alright?"
Anything to make sure he didn't lose anyone else he loved.

Hex nodded slowly, then reached for Danny's hand. "I'm not sure this time I can do it alone. I might have to go into recovery. Rehab," he said. He'd given thought to it...he was just afraid.
no subject
"If that's what you need, Hex, that's what you need," Danny said softly. "You have to take care of yourself, whatever it takes."

"It's funny, init, how people turn up at just the right time? You, here. Now. Alex then. It's funny," he said. Whatever the shot Q had given him was making him rather tired and he really wanted to just have a sit.
no subject
"Sure, I guess," Danny agreed, frowning and giving Hex a worried look. "It's getting late, I'd understand if you need to get some rest," he said gently.

"I'm not going anywhere." Danny promised. "I'll be here in the morning. We can talk all day if you like. ...Right now I want to see you well rested," Danny pressed gently, stepping closer and allowing himself a moment of quiet intimacy and human touch as he stepped closer and wrapped his arms around Hex.

The relief he felt at simply being held made him dizzy. He held onto Danny in return and felt the solid form of him, smelled his shampoo and skin, and in that moment everything felt right.
"Show me where I can sleep," he said softly after a long moment of indulgence.
no subject
"We're hardly strangers. You can sleep in mine if you like. ...Though if you'd rather be alone, the sofa pulls out. ...Not very comfy really," Danny confessed, watching Hex as he spoke. As though he was worried the other man might vanish if he looked away.
no subject
"I didn't want to presume...but I'd like that. I'd like to sleep with you," Hex said softly, chancing a gentle touch. Just a bit of intimacy that he'd missed so terribly in Danny's absence.

"I can just sleep in me pants," he replied softly. "It'd be nice to have you against me."
no subject
"It would be nice," Danny agreed, tracing his fingers over the line of Hex's jaw as he spoke.
"I've really missed you," he said softly. "I don't think I can say that enough. I've missed you so much. I hope- I hope I didn't ruin everything by running away. I don't want to start over. I don't want to pretend none of that happened. I want to pick up where we left off, and I want to do it right this time. No more running, no more fear. I love you, I don't know if I'll ever get over Alex, but I know I love you, and I want to make this work."

Hex honestly wasn't sure he deserved for anyone to love him unconditionally the way Danny was offering, but that was nothing he was going to say out loud. He felt like an arse but he wanted to be someone's own. He wanted a future. And he could have that with Danny. He love him. Adored him. And his heart beat faster at the thought of picking up again.
"I do too," he said. He hesitated a moment, then leaned in and kissed him tenderly.

It felt good to be kissed. Good to close his eyes and let all the pain he felt fade away. To pretend he could be normal and happy.
He'd suffered so much recently. Lost so much. ...Hadn't he earned this? Didn't he deserve a happy ending?

Hex lingered at his lips for a long moment, eyes closed, simply tasting him and breathing him in.
"I've missed you," he whispered, then softer, "I love you, Danny."
no subject
"I love you too, Hex. ...I promise, I'm going to get this right this time. I mean it," Danny promised.
no subject
Hex nodded, deciding then and there that he'd do it right, too. No messing around, no drinking. Work, gym, home. He'd get on the straight and narrow and stay there and be a man Danny could be proud to cal his boyfriend.
"Do you want to eat or should we go lie down?" he asked. "I'll cook. You know how I like to cook," he grinned.
