Hex
from here
Danny was stone still for a moment, but eventually moved to cover Hex's hand with his own. He honestly wasn't sure what to say. So much had happened, so much had changed. In the end he settled on something simple.
"I wasn't gone forever, I just- I had things I needed to at least try and settle," he said softly.

"I'm sorry, Hex. I really am," Danny said softly. "I never meant to drag you down with me."
no subject
"Danny, I came willingly," Hex replied. "In fact, if I recall, I grabbed hold and didn't give you much choice."

"So now what? What are you going to do now that it's all behind you?" Hex asked softly. He didn't expect an answer, not really.

"There's no reason to rush into anything. If you're safe and secure you could find something you enjoy. Don't need to work warehouses or dishwashing forever," he said reasonably. "You've got a sharp mind, Danny. Really. Full of potential."
no subject
"Perhaps, but let's not pretend my future is bright, Hex. Some things that have happened- They can't be erased or undone," Danny said softly, reaching over to touch Hex's arm. "My illness might not be the death sentence it used to be, but let's not pretend there isn't still a stigma."

"I could wish really hard," he said softly, and though to many it may seem a platitude, Hex knew exactly how dangerous a wish could be now. Maybe if he wished for Danny's heath it might make up some of the damage he'd caused with Fin.
If he could even find Will. If Danny would even be willing.

Danny laughed, then shook his head. "Anything you can just wish for and have is always going to have a catch. Nothing in life comes easy, Hex. If I could wish myself healthy, I'd likely get hit by a bus the same day."
no subject
Hex wondered if he knew how too right that was. He'd bear the burden of the cost thought, willingly too, if it could mean Danny would live long an healthy.
"Yeah, well I won't break out any candles and ouija boards just yet. Swear," he said, trying to laugh it off.
no subject
"Good," Danny replied. "...Part of what I love about you Hex, is that you love me as I am, warts and all."
no subject
That made him hesitate. Reaching out to take Danny's hand he pulled him closer to get his attention.
"I do, Danny. I really do," he said softly.
no subject
Danny smiled, looking at their hands and squeezing Hex's gently.
He was about to say something, but the cab slowed to a stop and he realized they'd arrived.
"Oh, we're here. This is Scotty's."
no subject
Hex peered out the window, up the flagstone steps to the modern architecture. The lights inside were welcoming.
"It looks nice," he said, then got out. The night was pleasant and the air smelled fresh even this bit outside of the city proper. "I get a tour, yeah?"
no subject
Danny paid the fair, then joined him outside.
"Sure. It's not as massive as it looks though," he smiled, taking Hex's arm and leading him inside.
no subject
"Bet it's got a nice garden. I'm spoiled with the garden at Spencer's house," he replied, keeping Danny close as they went inside. It was nice, not flash at all. Understated. Classic. He felt at home immediately.
no subject
"It does," Danny nodded, though his smile faded as he looked around.
"It's a lovely place, he was very proud of this house. ...It feels terribly empty without him in it though," he admitted quietly.
no subject
"Would you sell? Move somewhere without so many ghosts?" Hex asked gently.
no subject
"No," Danny admitted. "That would be too hard. I have too many memories of him that live here."
no subject
"Then maybe a change or two. Over time. Make it more your's together," he suggested.
no subject
"Maybe," Danny agreed. "Right now I'm not sure I'm ready for that either. At the moment it's... It's nice to be among his things. It's like he's still here."
He wrapped his arms around himself, then looked over at Hex. "Scotty didn't drink either. He had a slip not long before he... Before he, um, he was killed. I cleared the place out though, it's safe here if you need a place to be while you get back on track," he offered.

"I don't know a lot about sobriety, but I'll do what I can," Danny promised. "Whatever you need, alright?"
Anything to make sure he didn't lose anyone else he loved.
no subject
Hex nodded slowly, then reached for Danny's hand. "I'm not sure this time I can do it alone. I might have to go into recovery. Rehab," he said. He'd given thought to it...he was just afraid.
no subject
"If that's what you need, Hex, that's what you need," Danny said softly. "You have to take care of yourself, whatever it takes."
