The unforgiving wood against his shoulders, the sharp sting of teeth- This was what he needed. ...Or maybe it wasn't, maybe it was just an easy escape. Danny didn't care, he just knew he wanted to feel something other than desperation, fear, or loneliness. He wanted to feel good. He wanted to believe, for a brief moment, that things would be fine- Or, at the very least, forget how shit the world was.

He gave Hex a light shove, even as he chased his lips with his own, urging him on, trying to claw his way back to a time where this had been who he was.

"That it? That all you have?" he asked, pushing Hex harder, shoving him back against a narrow table that stood in the hall, home to a lamp and a silver coloured eiffel tower replica. Both rocked, but neither fell as Danny tried to grab Hex's wrists and kiss him harder.

This should have been their first Christmas. It was all he could think about every time he spotted a trimmed tree or a bloke dressed as Santa. This should have been a happy time- And happy as he was to spend another holiday with Scotty, he couldn't help but be slightly heartbroken by it all.

Sara had tried to get him out of bed, but Danny had seen no reason- And soon he was home alone, under the covers and wondering when the pain would just stop. When he would finally move on. ...He had to move on, didn't he? He was still so young, there had to be life after Alex. There had to be.

There was a knock on the door, and he sighed as he pulled the covers over his head.

"No one's home!" he called out, unaware the front door was unlocked and partially open still. Sara wasn't good about locking up.

"Why didn't you tell me? I found one of your pills."

His heart had skipped a beat as Sara had held the pill out to him. He knew what it was. Knew too well, actually. Though it wasn't his. He wasn't...

He wasn't.

Except the people who'd hurt Alex, the people he'd upset, they had incredible power. They could do anything- Was it so far out of the realm of possibility that they could infect him?

He wanted to believe there was a limit- Not only to what they could do, but the lines they would cross. He held onto that hope as he sat in a small room, waiting for the nurse to come and test his blood. ...To prove to himself that he was still clean. That he wasn't positive.
