Danny had been thinking about texting John all day, but as the sun vanished beyond the horizon he finally sat down on the edge of the bed with his phone. He wrote a message- Then deleted it. Then another, which he also deleted.

Finally he wrote something he didn't hate.

Danny slipped his own on, thinking about how once upon a time he'd have just suggested they go get tested together and then fuck like rabbits, bare and free.

Nothing he was going to tell Danny, though. Maybe some other time. The man seemed to want to know all about him...eventually he'd have to tell him that.

"Come on, now," he said, pulling Danny back in so he could feel the whole of him.

"Sorry," Danny said softly, aware he was bringing the mood down and slipping his arms around John. "Sometimes it just- I guess it hits me harder."

"I'm sure it does," he said. His hands smoothed over Danny gently, trying his best to offer some comfort. "Do you want to tell me?"

"Nothing to tell," Danny promised. "It's just- Something I carry, I guess."

He was silent a beat, then moved to kiss John again, not wanting to think about it anymore tonight.

Danny tangled his fingers in John's hair again, bucking up against him with a groan.

"Want you," he moaned, tugging on John's hair as he paused to nip at his jaw, then his neck. "Need you..."

Danny nodded a little, still nipping at skin.

"Wicked old bastard," Danny purred in return, carefully rolling them over and reaching blindly for the lube.

"You're beautiful, you know," he said while Danny grabbed the tube.

"I used to be," Danny said, slicking his fingers and looking lost in thought for a moment. "I could pull anyone, and everyone wanted to pull me. I was fun. ...People like you, when you're fun."

Lifting up a little, he closed his eyes as he started to prepare himself.
